Payment Options

Traffic Payments - Online or by Phone

Customer Automated Support is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone or the Internet to pay or make an inquiry. Online access is available here. Phone access is available by calling (415) 448-8230.

The court accepts debit/credit Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. There is a convenience fee assessed on all debit and credit card transactions. To pay using a credit card with an international postal code, please contact our office during business hours to speak with a live operator.

Express Service Drop Box

The public is encouraged to use our Express Service Drop Box located on the Court Floor just before the security screening station for the following transactions. PLEASE PRINT your name and case number on the envelope provided.

  • Payment of bail or fine.
  • Request to attend traffic school submitted with full bail plus a $52 traffic school fee.
  • Proof of registration insurance or equipment correction submitted with a $25 transaction fee for each correctable violation.
  • Proof of completion of community service hours, signed by the non-profit agency that supervised the hours.

Cash payments are only accepted in person in Room C-10 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Checks, cashier checks, or money orders (payable to Marin County Superior Court) may be mailed or paid in person in Room C-10. Please note: When making a payment by mail, individuals must write the case number or the defendant's name on the check, cashier check, or money order to ensure it is applied correctly.

Credit card payments may be paid in person in Room C-10, mailed (using the stub provided on the Courtesy Notice), or phone at (415) 448-8230.

Please note that payment by personal check will delay the DMV release of a hold on your driver’s license and/or registration for ten (10) calendar days. To ensure that the hold on your driver's license and/or registration is released within 24 hours, individuals must pay by cash, cashier check, money order, or credit or debit card.

Overview

The Traffic Clerk's Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., except on holidays. The office is on the Court Floor of the Marin County Civic Center Hall of Justice , 3501 Civic Center Dr., Room C-10 in San Rafael.

The Marin County Civic Center has three drive-through arches. From the middle arch lobby only, take the elevator to the "C" floor. After passing through security screening, go left to the end of the hall to Room C-10. For individuals wishing to speak with a clerk in this office, please call (415) 444-7180. The phone hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Calls will be answered in the order received.

Spanish Language Services

The Traffic Clerk's Office has several Spanish-speaking clerks to assist the public. Some forms are available for review in Spanish. A Spanish-language interpreter is usually in the courtroom to help non-English speakers during court hearings.
